Tuition Tutors
Terms & Conditions
1. REGISTRATION
Up to two months (non-refundable or transferable) fee plus one week's security deposit is payable by the start date.
Years 3 and 4:
Children take an assessment. The fee is £40. The assessment fee is deducted from the first month's tuition fee when children join within 4 weeks of the assessment. Please do not book this until you are ready for your child to start tuition. Assessments can be booked if you are not interested in tuition.
Year 5:
A paid assessment is required to commence tuition.
Year 6:
No pre-tuition assessment is required to commence classes.
2. TUITION CLASSES
All children follow the same scheme of work. However, the lower your child starts on the scheme, the more time is needed to bridge the gap. (Children can be in different groups for different subjects). When children miss classes, the work will be emailed or posted to parents. When possible, tutors will try to offer
catch-up sessions but this is not always possible. If Tutors are not able to take a class. A later day will be allocated.
Group 1:
Tutor: Joyce
Children in this group are usually working at secure or mastering levels at school.
Recommended Tuition with us: 1 hour maths + 1 hour English.
Children at the lower section of this group may need catch-up sessions.
Group 1 Previous 11+ Result: 100 passes and 100% entry into grammar and or independent schools.
**********
Group 2:
Tutor: Joyce
Children in this group are normally working at expected levels in school.
Recommended Tuition with us: 2 Hours Maths and/or 2 hours English + Holiday Boosters or 1-2-1.
Group 2 Previous 11+ Results
If children remain at group 2 levels, the outcome varies:
Children in the top part of the mid quartile may score high enough to pass a selectability test and/or one or more of the grammar schools cut off score
Girls in the catchment area may reach the school’s score if they are in the mid quartile range.
Girls in the out-of-catchment areas may pass the selectability test but are unlikely to score high enough to gain an 11+ place.
**********
Group 3:
Tutor: Yvette
Children in this group are normally working below expected levels or at the lower end of expected levels.
Recommended Tuition: 2 Hours Maths and/or 2 hours English + Holiday Boosters + 1-2-1.
Group 3 Previous 11+ Results
Children in this group are not working at 11+ targets. If they remain at this level they are unlikely to pass an 11+ test.
Parents may believe that starting tuition in year 3 or year 4 is the answer to reaching 11+ targets but this is not necessarily the case. If your child is getting the same amount of tuition as children in higher groups, Your child will make progress but is unlikely to sufficiently bridge the gap.
3. TUITION FEE
The tuition fee is £20 per hour. However, fees are standardised over 50 weeks and paid on a monthly basis.
A week's security deposit is paid per class. This fee is deducted from the child's final lesson.
1 hour per week monthly standardised fee is £83
2 hours per week monthly standardised fee is £166
After the initial payment, the tuition fee is payable on the 1st of each month by standing order.
Following the first month's non refundable or transferable fee, a weeks’ notice is requested to terminate tuition or your deposit will be used in lieu of notice.
Group fees are standardised to cover 50 weeks a year. Each month, regardless of the number of weeks tuition, the same monthly group fee is paid.
Should your child not complete each yearly cycle, fees will be calculated using the hourly £20 rate. Likewise, when a full month is not taken, fees are also worked out at the hourly rate.
One-to-one (1:1) fee is £50 per hour or £40 per hour for 2 or more consecutive hours on the same day.
4. TUITION PERIOD:
Tuition runs for 50 weeks a year: two weeks off at Christmas. Please note that the time allocated to students cannot be given to another student. Therefore, all missed lessons are charged. Missed work will be emailed or posted to parents. Some children may need additional class(es) to understand the missed lesson. This may need to be done in booster sessions or 1:1 lessons. Lessons may have to be suspended if too many classes are missed.
We understand (and expect) that you may take a holiday so will work around your child's time away. You are responsible for arranging 1:1 or catch up lessons if your child is away.
5. TERMINATION OF TUITION:
At Tuition Tutors, we strive to help each child reach their full potential. We recognise that teaching styles and methods vary. Should you feel that you wish to pursue a different tuition option after the registration period, please let use know. Any outstanding fees will be returned within 4 weeks.

It is our policy not to recommend books and papers for lessons your child is not being tutored in. If you decide to work on books and papers not recommended by the tutor, help can only be given when a separate 1:1 session is booked. Tutors will not enter in communication about 11+ materials whilst children are in group 2 or group 3.
7. HOMEWORK DIARY
Homework will be given each week via a diary. The diary may be used for communication between yourself and the tutor. Children are expected to complete homework (some of which may need to be marked by you) before each session. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from group lessons until they catch up.
8. FEEDBACK
Academic feedback is given to parents as and when tutors need to draw your attention to a matter. It is not practical for parents with children in group sessions to speak to the tutor weekly. Formal assessments are done once a term. Parents are advised of their child's progress.
